New Enforcement | Rhondda Cynon Taff, Cardiff and Newport

The GoSafe camera partnership in Wales is dedicated to reducing road casualties and promoting safer driving habits. GoSafe work with the Highways Authorities in Wales to enforce safety camera schemes.

Fixed cameras are installed in areas where there is a high risk of collision. The cameras help us to encourage people to drive within the speed limits and keep everyone using our roads safe. Our most successful cameras are the ones that see the least number of offences, not the most.

New enforcement has been agreed for high-risk areas in Rhondda Cynon Taff, Cardiff and Newport: the exact location and date of activation for each camera can be seen below.

Following activation of the cameras, advice letters will be issued for the first 4 weeks of their use. The letters allow us to first engage with the public and inform them of the correct speed limit. Advice letters are sent once and are not repeated.

We know that most people want to keep the roads in their communities safe and comply with the speed limit. But if you don’t know what the speed limit is, you’re at risk of unknowingly driving too quickly past a fixed camera. In doing so, you might be unaware that you’re breaking the law and putting yourself at risk of losing your licence.

Our goal is to achieve compliance with the speed limit for safety reasons and use enforcement as a last resort.

The following list gives the details of new static speed camera locations and the date they will begin enforcement. For the first 4 weeks, advice letters will be issues to inform drivers of the correct speed limit.
