Delaying emergency vehicles can cost lives.
It is not unusual to have emergency vehicles appear suddenly behind you whilst you are driving.
However, it is important not to panic if this happens and just keep calm and try to remember the following:
- Signal and pull over if it is safe – be aware of pedestrians or cyclists
- Try to leave as much space as you can for the emergency vehicle to pass safely
- Bear in mind that other vehicles may follow so take your time before taking off again.
